There's Often More Beneath Burnout
If you've always been the responsible one, the achiever, or the person everyone could count on, trauma and burnout may be more connected than you realize. Years of adapting, striving, and putting your own needs aside can leave your nervous system exhausted and disconnected from who you are.
Healing isn't just about learning to rest. It's about understanding why you felt like you couldn't in the first place.
Trauma therapy in Arcadia can help with…
-
Childhood trauma isn't always one obvious event. Sometimes it develops through repeated experiences where you didn't feel emotionally safe, understood, supported, or free to be yourself.
You may have:
Felt responsible for managing other people's emotions.
Learned to stay quiet to avoid conflict.
Had your feelings dismissed or minimized.
Felt like you had to grow up too quickly.
Been praised for being "easy," independent, or low-maintenance.
Learned that your needs were a burden.
These experiences can shape the way you see yourself, your relationships, and what you believe you deserve.
-
Perfectionism often begins as a way of trying to feel safe, accepted, or in control. When you grow up believing your worth is tied to what you accomplish, how much you help others, or how well you meet expectations, slowing down can feel uncomfortable or even impossible.
You may have:
Felt like mistakes were unacceptable.
Believed you had to be the best to be valued.
Learned to ignore your own needs to keep achieving.
Felt guilty when resting or doing less.
Constantly moved the goalpost, even after success.
Struggled to feel proud of yourself.
Over time, these patterns can lead to burnout, exhaustion, anxiety, and feeling disconnected from yourself.
-
Living under constant pressure can impact your mind and body in ways that go beyond everyday stress. When your nervous system has spent years adapting to demands, uncertainty, or feeling unsafe, it can become difficult to truly rest.
You may have:
Felt like you always need to be prepared for the next problem.
Struggled to relax without feeling guilty.
Experienced anxiety even when things are going well.
Felt exhausted but unable to slow down.
Been stuck in a cycle of pushing through.
Lost touch with what you actually need or want.
Healing can involve learning that you no longer have to live in constant survival mode.
-
Faith communities can offer belonging and support, but they can also become sources of fear, shame, or control.
You may have been taught:
your worth depended on your behavior
questioning authority was wrong
your body or sexuality was something to fear
love had to be earned
your identity wasn't acceptable
-
Shame goes deeper than feeling like you made a mistake. It can create the belief that something about you is fundamentally wrong or that you have to earn your right to belong.
You may find yourself:
Being much harder on yourself than you are on others.
Feeling like you are never doing enough.
Apologizing for having needs or emotions.
Struggling to accept compliments or celebrate yourself.
Comparing yourself to others.
Believing you need to change to be worthy of love.
Healing from shame means learning to relate to yourself with compassion instead of criticism.

My fee for services is $225 per 50-minute session. I have a limited amount of sliding scale slots that will be prioritized for BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ clients. There is no guarantee that any of these will be available at the time you call. Please let me know if you need sliding scale fees during our call. If I cannot accommodate, I am happy to point you in a direction to meet your financial needs.

I am currently considered to be an out of network mental health provider.
I am happy to provide you a superbill each month to give to your insurance. Please check with your insurance about your out of network mental health benefits - many of my clients are able to get reimbursement from their insurance.
Why you should consider working with an “out of network” therapist:
No limitations on sessions. We can meet for as long as you need without having to worry if insurance will cut us off, or end coverage, which could abruptly end your care.
Allows me to offer you more flexible, personalized, and intentional care.
Helps me keep your information completely confidential, without needing to share diagnosis or notes with insurance companies.
Allows us to avoid surprise billing issues, which can lead to lapses in treatment.
Lets us focus on what’s best for you, not what insurance says is best for you!

I meet with clients once a week for a 50-minute session.
Research shows that weekly therapy is the most impactful. With this in mind, I ask that you commit to weekly sessions for the first 6 months of therapy to establish care and get the support you deserve. I reserve biweekly therapy appointments for those who are transitioning out of therapy.
-
In our first session, we will review intake paperwork together. We will talk about how you are feeling about starting the process, and we will collaborate on what feels important to you. The first few sessions may feel like a bit of story telling to catch me up on your history. I also work intentionally to check in and make sure that our work is still feeling like a good fit for you.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO HEAL ON YOUR OWN!
